BBQ Sauce - Homemade!

In one of my recent episodes of “This or That” I shared with you a sweet yet spicy, homemade BBQ sauce. If your goal is to lower your added sodium through condiments, give this one a try:

1 teaspoon olive oil

2 teaspoons crushed garlic

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 can low sodium tomato sauce

2 tablespoons tomato paste

2 tablespoons maple syrup

2 tablespoons molasses

1 teaspoon cider vinegar

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon each of paprika, chilli powder, ground pepper

¼ teaspoon each of cayenne pepper, cinnamon

Whisk all of the ingredients into a saucepan, bring to a slow boil and reduce heat, stirring for 3-5 minutes. Cool, and store for up to 5 days in a jar with a lid in your refrigerator. Enjoy!
