You and Your Diabetes
If you live with diabetes, eating healthy will help you control your blood glucose, blood pressure and your cholesterol values. Glucose (sugar) comes from foods such as milk, fruit, starchy foods, some vegetables and of course, sugar.
Your healthy food options are almost limitless, your life is not controlled by what you can’t eat but by what you can eat. Be sure to eat at regular times in the day to help control your blood sugar, eat more high fiber foods such as whole grains, plant based proteins (lentils, beans), vegetables and fruits, lower your foods high in saturated and trans fats. Limit your sugars and sweets where you can and drink water for thirst. For more information go to Diabetes.ca
